Finding Purpose in the Pain Restoration Retreat
If your life has been filled with seemingly endless suffering and/or if you’ve ever struggled with finding purpose in your pain, you will want to join us for an amazing time of restoration in the foothills of the Carefree Mountains just north of Phoenix, Arizona. Together we will hear from outstanding female speakers who have successfully navigated their own painful journey. They will share their insights and encouragement with us. There will be time for hiking, yoga, relaxation, crafts, breakout sessions and making new friends. The incredible food and luxurious accommodations will pamper you and remind you how special you are to God.

Cancellation Policy:
Full cost will be refunded if cancellation is received by January 1st, 2022. Cancellations between January 2 – February 15 will be refunded 50%. Any cancellation after February 16 will not be refunded.
Retreat Leaders
Dena Yohe has been a social worker, pastor’s wife, and CRU affiliate staff. She and her husband Tom are co-founders of Hope for Hurting Parents. They have been guests on Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson, Family Life with Dennis Rainey, and Focus on the Family with Jim Daly. An avid blogger and author of You Are Not Alone: Hope for Hurting Parents of Troubled Kids, Dena is a proud mom of three adult children and loves being Mimi to her grandchildren. She enjoys garage sales, gardening, and music.
Brenda Ferland is the mother of two grown sons Asa, 36 and Zane, 34. Asa has struggled with addiction and has been in rehab and prison most of his adult life. Zane is severely disabled. He is non-verbal and requires total care. This isn’t how she anticipated her life, but through God’s grace she is using her pain to help others navigate their similar journey. Brenda is a certified Trauma Recovery Coach, public speaker, and a facilitator for “Hope for Hurting Parents.” Brenda is an avid hiker and loves kayaking paddle boarding ine the Sonoran Desert of Arizona.
Dawn Ward is the founder of The Faith to Flourish, a ministry for women with family members battling addiction or other life controlling issues. She is the mother of three adults children, two sons who have struggled with addiction and a daughter who is in the Autism spectrum. Dawn has a heart for women who desire a deeper relationship with Jesus in the midst of their hardship. Through impactful teaching and Bible studies, she guides them into a deeper understanding of the scriptures. Dawn is a speaker, writer, blogger, and teacher of the word of God. She co-authored the workbook, Still Standing After All the Tears: Faith in the Battle Edition and is a contributing writer for Pray With Confidence. She loves her Lord, her hubby, her kids, her dogs, travel, long walks and coffee.
Shonda Whitworth is a wife to Eldon, mom to two adult sons, an author, a blogger and online columnist whose posts have appeared in a myriad of online sites, conferences, retreats, and virtual summits. She has been teaching Bible studies for more than 15 years, many of those lessons she put together for each study group. Shonda is the author of Appeal to the Courtroom of Heaven: Petitions for Prisoners and Prison Families. After her first born son was arrested, convicted and sentenced to the Texas Department of Corrections, she found herself with nowhere to turn for support and encouragement. With her husband Eldon, they founded Fortress of Hope Ministries that ministers to families whose lives have been impacted by incarceration. Fortress of Hope provides a safe place for families and friends who need to share their concerns unique to the prison family with others who relate. She walks with other parents on this journey providing comfort and encouragement.
Jessica Silva is the founder of Promises Initiative, Helping Mothers of Sons (and Daughters) Incarcerated. Promises Initiative was started in October 2020 when Jessica realized that a holistic approach for hurting moms can be applied just as she has applied to her clients with cancer. Jessica has her MBA in Healthcare Management. Promises Initiative provides mind, body and spiritual tools through a 6 week series. Jessica’s son was recently released from the California DOC after serving 9.5 years. Jessica has been a very active advocate for justice and rehabilitation and believes that our burden is lighter when we walk this path together.
Amy Coello is a dynamic speaker and storyteller. An author, television host, and ministry leader with 20 years of experience in the legal field. She is the founder of the largest Christian Dream Interpretation Facebook Group called Prophetic Dreams, Symbols, and Interpretation. And also the author of Dreams: A Window Into Your Destiny, How To Talk To The UnChurched, and Dream Symbols. Her passion is helping women break free from the cycle of depression and grief that accompany life’s hurts. She helps instill a new vision for the hopeless and a renewed lease on life for all. Amy is a wife and the mother of 11 children. She understands the grief of losing a child.
Suzanne Havens is recognized as a fitness innovator and trend setter. Suzi helps transform bodies and minds of all ages around the world, with her simple fitness routines and motivational talks. She shows everyone how they can easily get strong, fit and flexible in a little as 7 minutes a day. She knows the struggles of raising a son with addiction and the toll it can take on women. She uses her wellness background and personal story of faith in Christ to motivate others to make themselves a priority.
Brianna Irwin is the mother of two children ages 11 and 4. She is the worship leader at River of Life Christian Center in Bridgeport Texas, intern at Lifestyle Christianity University, and Wholyfit Christian Fitness instructor. Brianna was a victim of abuse, sexually, physically and mentally. She had both kids outside of marriage and has been in abusive relationships. She was looking for her identity through men and coping with pain through drugs. But Jesus has saved her, changed her life and is growing her into the woman that He has called her to be. She motivates others to overcome through the victory of Jesus Christ.
Debra Lee Murrow leads women to experience the word of God and receive healing through art. She will encourage creativity and help us reveal our natural God given talents and abilities in ink and pen. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in a group canvas and/or create a piece of art to take home with you as a memorial of our healing retreat.
