Touchpoints on John (Page 3)

A piece of cake illustrating Touchpoint from 8/11/21

Feast on Life

Maybe all of existence is part of “I Am.” And so when we eat, we eat “I Am.” And when we breathe, we breathe “I Am.” And when we open our eyes in the morning we see “I Am.” And when we touch, and listen and take in the whole world, we are taking in “I Am.”

The UN-certainty of God

Let’s not make the mistake with this text of trying to move from one certainty to another. That is just moving from the frying pan into the fire. No, the move is from certainty to mystery. That is why the analogies are birth and wind.

No Choice in the Matter

It’s a theological Copernican revolution if you think about it. Just as the sun doesn’t revolve around the earth, God doesn’t revolve around me. I revolve around God.

The Un-Folding of God

“The Un-Folding of God” is Bro. Jim Hanson’s Touchpoint on the Good Shepherd text (John 10:11-18), the Lectionary reading for Sunday, April 25, 2021.

“Show Me”

“Unless I see the wounds in his hands and touch and feel his side…” (John 20:19-31) And Jesus shows Thomas his wounds. There is something astounding about this passage. The resurrected Lord still carries with him the wounds of the world. Think about that.

The Final Line

Grace and peace from the Mystery in whom we live and move and have our being. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. John 3: 14-21 It’s always the next line. The one, after the one you know, that is often the key. You know, like… “The wages of sin is death,” You’ve all heard that one or read it on a…

No Payment Made, No Payment Received

Grace and peace from the Mystery in whom we live and move and have our being. Stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.” John 2: 13-22 I was online the other day and a headline popped up on the side of the page, “The Wealthiest Pastors in America” it said. So I clicked on it and read and looked at pictures of how the richest pastors in America live. WOW!!! Impressive!!! One of those pastors lives in Houston. You may…

I AM (not)

This is the SIN the Lamb of God takes away from the world – our trying to be or become THAT which we think we NEED to be. Because when you realize you are not the Messiah, you actually get your life back as a gift – to be lived – and not something you have to save.

Enough!!

“Your life is a gift, not a test or a ‘have to’. You are already enough, before you do or say anything.”
