From the Author
“By now you realize that I am very excited to have completed and published my new book, You’re Not Done Becoming. I wrote this book because, through a number of personal life events, I have come to believe that all of us need to embrace a new paradigm of aging — no matter the season of life we are now in. I remember how, years ago as I was approaching the retirement age (at that time it was 62-65 — and being eligible for Social Security), I felt untethered because I didn’t know what I would do with the rest of my life — if God allowed me more years. It was an unsettling time.
Well, I have been granted more years — and I’ve learned a lot. The main thing I’ve learned is that all of us are not done becoming. I have learned that BECOMING doesn’t end at a certain age or stage. It’s a lifelong journey. The important thing is to not believe that our best years are behind us. Look forward to what is next and believe that it can be just as fulfilling. Yes, we may have a few more aches and pains, or unexpected health issues, etc. But, life goes on and it is all about our attitude. Positivity is the name of the game.
What part of your life feels like it’s unfolding into a “becoming” journey right now?”
Review for ‘You’re Not Done Becoming’
“I don’t know how to begin to express the gift that Sarah Payne Naylor’s words and teachings are for me. I read the book yesterday in one sitting, underlining so much that there is almost no white space. And now that I have completed it, I will immediately read it again, this time SLOWLY and with pen and journal in hand. Coaching is a process of soul-searching inquiry and Sarah is the consummate Life Coach, first offering profound ideas “to try on” and see how they fit, how they resonate for you AND THEN offering meaningful questions that hit the mark, questions that invite you, the reader, to dive in and explore. AND THEN she tops each chapter off with an affirmation that is so well crafted that I have already typed them all onto a sheet of paper to have them handy.
As I enter into my 81st year, this book arrives as a reminder and an invitation to go deeper, to live deeper, to never stop becoming. As Sarah says, LIFE is not about performance or a litany of achievements or fixing what’s wrong. It’s about PRESENCE. “It’s about listening more deeply, loving more honestly, and living more intentionally.” If there were space, I could include here a brilliant quote from every page (NB: the book is very well written) and each would be worthy of deep consideration. That being said, let me complete this review with Sarah’s words: “You were not meant to stay the same. You were made to evolve – to expand – to keep waking up to who you are now. This becoming is your spiritual practice.”
Let me add that this book is relevant not just for olders but for people at every age and stage who seek to live fulfilling lives, moment by precious moment.” —Minx Boren
