Camp Samantha for Kids, Teens and Grown-ups
Developed by Stepping Stones of Hope, the goal of the Camp Samantha grief camp is to build family cohesion and strong communication skills.
Camp Samantha is a traditional, fun, high-energy camp combined with grief education and emotional support. Through art, music, and a lot of talking and laughing, kids learn about death and dying. And, they learn how to begin to cope. All of this in a safe environment with other grieving children where they can realize they are not alone.
The adult program at Camp Samantha is facilitated during the same time as the kid’s camp in an adjacent facility.
Camp Samantha offers a unique opportunity for the grieving adults in a child’s life to attend a program in conjunction with the kids’ camp. The model and curriculum mirrors the tools and activities in the kids’ program. While camp for grown-ups is not mandatory for adults whose children are participating, Stepping Stones of Hope philosophically and fundamentally believes the best possible support is provided for both children and adults simultaneously.
The Camp Samantha grief camp is September 13-15 at Spirit in the Desert. This weekend, overnight camp is designed for children and teens ages 6-17 and the adults in their lives who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
Cost
Cost for the weekend is $50 per child or $75 per adult, and partial scholarships are available upon request.
