Ephesians 1:3-10…“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace that he lavished on us.” vss. 7-8a

The writer to the Ephesians can scarcely contain himself as he begins his letter to his friends in Ephesus. He has come to an explosive and expansive understanding of God’s grace and love and pours out his amazing conclusions in his introductory paragraph. He believes that the people reading this letter are the adoptive children of God. That they have been destined to live pure and blameless lives in Christ Jesus in whom they have received, totally by grace, the entire forgiveness of all of their sins. He undoubtedly believed that this would be the best news they could ever receive. And he is, of course, right! This is the Good News of God in a nutshell, and the message has changed the lives of billions of people. Of course, the writer had more to say and he goes on to give his perspective on other matters of faith and life in the rest of his letter. But this is the meat, the core of what we believe! How sad it is when we get caught up in congregational controversies and church disputes and forget the incredible richness that is ours as the children of God. All are loved by God! Forgiveness belongs to all! As cleansed saints we have the power to transform the world, and bit by bit we’re doing it! All praise and glory to God!

Thought for the Day: What are some signs that the world is changing for good?
