Rika Beckley brings more than three decades of nonprofit leadership and fundraising experience to her role as Executive Director of Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center. Throughout her career, she has served organizations dedicated to strengthening communities through generosity, relationship-building, and mission-driven leadership. Her passion for helping people discover purpose and hope has guided her work in higher education and faith-based organizations.
Drawn by the center’s mission of providing a sanctuary where people can rest, reflect, and reconnect with God, Rika started working with Spirit in early 2026. As she immersed herself in the ministry, she developed a deep appreciation for the countless lives transformed through retreats, personal renewal experiences, and the faithful generosity of Spirit’s supporters.
On July 1, 2026, Rika was appointed Executive Director. She assumed leadership during a season of transition, focusing on strengthening the organization’s financial sustainability, expanding relationships with donors and retreat partners, and building a strong foundation for the future. She is committed to preserving Spirit’s legacy while exploring new opportunities to extend its ministry of healing and hospitality for generations to come.
“Spirit in the Desert is more than a retreat center; it is a place where people encounter peace, renewal, and the presence of God,” Rika says. “It is a privilege to serve alongside an incredible staff, dedicated Board members and volunteers, and faithful supporters who make this ministry possible. I believe God has wonderful things in store for Spirit’s future.”
Rika holds a bachelor’s degree in International Economics from Valparaiso University and a Master of Nonprofit Management from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. She and her husband, Dwight, recently relocated to Arizona and enjoy spending time with their family, exploring the beauty of the Southwest, and welcoming others to experience the peace and hospitality of Spirit in the Desert.
