Dennis and Mary Dahlen

dennis and mary dahlenDennis and Mary Dahlen have made annual financial contributions to Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center for more than ten years. They became acquainted with the center through their church, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Phoenix. Dennis also gives of his time and financial knowledge and strategic planning expertize as Chair of the Center’s Board of Directors. Mary, like Dennis, has had a career in healthcare. She earned a degree in healthcare management from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Mary has held various healthcare positions in strategic planning and development, including Director of Business Development for the North Dakota based Anne Carlson Center for Children.

She said, “I feel blessed that I am able to give my time and leadership to important causes like the National Charity League.” Currently, Mary serves on the board of a charter school for underprivileged children in Phoenix and she has served as trustee of her church.

The Dahlen’s support for Spirit in the Desert ranks high in their over-all stewardship for many organizations. Mary said she enjoys the feeling of participating in an important legacy as they join with others who are giving to Spirit in the Desert. They are supportive of the center’s programs and also committed to the center’s ability to sustain growth into the future and serve more people of all backgrounds who are seeking personal renewal.

They both said, “Stories motivate us. When we hear the stories of transformation about people attending Spirit in the Desert, our motivation to support the Center remains strong and rewarding.”
