Richard Andersen

richard andersenRichard’s support for Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center in Carefree, Arizona began years ago in the Twin Cities. He met John Yackel, a strong supporter of Spirit in the Desert and a Board Member, who organized fund raising dinners in the Twin Cities for the retreat center. When John learned that Richard had managed several fine-dining restaurants, John asked Richard to be in charge of selecting the wine for the Spirit in the Desert dinners. For the next ten or twelve years, Richard supported Spirit in the Desert at the fund raising dinners in Minnesota.

Today, Richard’s support for Spirit in the Desert is not only as a fund-raiser and Stakeholder, but as its Executive Director. The Board of Directors called Richard to the position of Executive Director, and on January 3, 2016, he began his leadership of Spirit in the Desert. Richard’s call to use his talents to sustain and grow this important organization’s service to all people follows his careers as restauranteur, pastor, gift officer, life coach, and financial consultant.

Reflecting on his opportunity and responsibility to lead Spirit into a dynamic future of service, Richard said, “I am in awe of how God leads us to serve where we are needed. I am passionate about the hospitality and resources that Spirit in the Desert gives our guests so they can experience renewal, reconciliation, healing, and transformation.”

Richard’s support for Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center has become a full time calling.
