Spirit in the Desert is honored to again offer Speaking the Word freely workshop, now in its 10th year.
Speaking the Word Freely, with Rev. Jerry Larson, is the tried and true Process Preaching system enabling pastors and others to deliver sermons freely without reading a manuscript or speaking off the cuff. Speaking freely is such a powerful way of communicating that it literally can wake people up. Why does speaking freely communicate so much better in an oral setting than reading out loud or reciting a memorized text? Here are some of the most important reasons this is true.

Leader:
Jerry Larson (D. Min., Luther Seminary, St, Paul, MN) was a parish pastor for 39 years. He retired in 2004 from Calvary Lutheran, Edina, MN where he continues to serve as pastor emeritus. He has been teaching this speaking workshop for 8 years at Spirit in the Desert, and at Luther Seminary through the Kairos program. He is also the author of Speaking the Word Freely – Writing with Purpose, Preaching with Power.
Class Requirement: You must bring a sermon manuscript you are currently working on.
Due to the individualized instruction required, the class is limited to 15 so please register early. Please call before booking any airline reservation.
Costs:
Retreat begins Tuesday, Jan 23 at 1:30pm, and ends Thursday, January 25th, at 11am.
